I am totally in love with the new Hawthorn dress pattern by Colette Patterns.
I have an obsession with shirt dresses and it is time to another to add to my collection this spring. I like semi-circle skirts because they add some flair without bulk at the waist. The collar detail is my favorite aspect of the dress. I splurged and bought this pattern because I'm not in the mood to draft it myself from my TNT Butterick 5315 pattern.
I found this great lightweight chambray (100% cotton) at Fashion Fabrics in Mt. Pleasant, SC. (I need to get some more Magic Sizing to iron this cotton to its best.) It is a light aqua, in the same family as, oh...just my handbag, my bathroom walls, my sweater and some of my jewelry. My mom says I'm obsessed with the same colors her mom loved.
This dress has options for sleeveless, short sleeves, and buttoned 3/4 sleeves. I love the 3/4 sleeves shown above, but South Carolina is hot, so I'll work it up in some short sleeves. I'll probably buy some pearly looking buttons for a plainer look I can dress up and down.
Can't wait for my pattern to come in the mail!
